My Story
I'm fairly new to Imago after working in the social care sector for some time, and I joined as a Locality Development Coordinator for the new Wellbeing Matters Plus Service for the Over 55's and under 55's with complex needs, this service went live in April.
Ive really enjoyed working here and have already met some really great passionate colleagues along the way. What's difficult to comprehend is just the sheer volume of services that Imago provide across Kent, London and Sussex for both Children and Young Carers and Adult Services. Our project aims to tackle Isolation and loneliness for individuals and with partnerships and community work at the heart of our work, our job is to reconnect those individuals back into their communities, giving them opportunities and empowering them to make new friends, and providing them with the confidence and belief and support to do so along the way. So I see first hand the important work that Imago do for those people out there who really do benefit from their services.
I recently experienced my first full "Team/Staff Meet" at Bowles Adventure Centre and what a great bunch of enthusiastic staff we have! There we all were dangling from Ropes in Trees, celebrating the amazing team we have and the great work that Imago do across the board! I feel very lucky to be a part of Imago.
It was at this Team Meeting that I met Fiona, who described the Virtual London Marathon charity places that were available...
In a moments lack of thought I divulged to her that I had in fact run the London Marathon a mere 11 years ago now. Two kids, a pandemic and many beers later, it's fair to say I need another personal goal. Some may argue this goal is somewhat a large one, but together with my colleague Terrianne we have decided we will be walking this one in fancy dress for a bit of fun (TBC!!), and help to promote the fantastic work that Imago do for Children and Young Carers and Adult Services alike
All details will be added once we've decided what we wont melt in and have a feint chance of actually finishing the 26.2 miles wearing lol. We had also better start getting some distance walking training in asap.... So long as we plan the route with a pub in the middle for lunch, I reckon we can do it! So please help us by Sponsoring whatever you can. It really is such a worthwhile cause.
