My Story
I am supporting PramaLife by taking part in the virtual London Marathon because of the wonderful work that they do with people who have dementia, and their family carers, right on our doorstep.
One year ago, my Dad was diagnosed with rapid onset Dementia. As a family we have experienced first-hand how it difficult life can become in an instant. Suddenly, we were carers, and had to learn how to look after someone with ever changing needs. If there's one thing I have learned from this experience, it's how important it is to support the person to live life as best and as normally as possible. That's what Prama enable every day. Their selfless volunteers offer so much to support individuals and families, and after attending both a carers support group and a memory cafe, I can say first hand how much love goes into these projects.
I have worked in dementia care for nearly 3 years, and nothing is as deeply rewarding and heartwarming as caring for elderly persons and those with dementia. Being able to support someone to live in truly positive well-being, and seeing smiles on faces from small acts of kindness, is a feeling like no other.
Upton Bay is hugely proud to support Prama, as our carers and team are dedicated, loving, and share the same values as the charity.
The work that Prama undertake enables families to stay together for longer and gives the person with dementia something to look forward to every week, through various support and social groups.
Please support me taking on this personal challenge for this amazing charity 💙
